Pairing Your Two-Button or Single-Channel Remote

In this section, we cover pairing instructions for either the two button or single-channel remote. So while the remote images shown might not match the remote you’re using, the steps will still work for you.

NOTE: A "jog" is a brief down-and-up movement of the shade.

Pair a Remote with a Shade or Group of Shades

Before you start, decide which remote you want to control the shade or group of shades (known as the group remote).

Note: You will not be able to control an individual shade with the group remote after you perform these steps.   You can always adjust the remote's programming later.

Note 2: The "PRESS and HOLD" process on the shade can be a challenge if you don't apply adequate, consistent pressure on the button! If the shade starts to move, let go of the button and wait until the shade stops (or press and release the button again to stop the shade). Then try the "PRESS and HOLD" process again, making sure you're pressing and holding firmly and steadily.

Note 3: If the shade doesn't move when you press and release its button, you might have a power issue. If you suspect you have a power issue, check out our article on resolving it: see Step 2 - Rule Out Shade Power

Pair a Remote with a Shade or Group of Shades

  1. Reset the group remote to make sure you start with a clean slate.

                  a.  Press and hold the program button on the back of the remote for 15 seconds. When the LED stops flashing, release the button.

The remote LED should flash green, amber, and red before turning off.

                  b.   On the new shade, press and hold the program button for 7 seconds. When the shade jogs, release the button.

        2.  Pair the remote with the shade.

                  a.  On the remote, quickly press and release the program button twice.

The remote LED will flash amber and green.

                  b.  On the new shade, press and hold the program button for 3 seconds.   When the shade LED flashes green, release the button.    The shade will jog once, and all LED's will turn off.  The shade is now paired with the remote.

                  c.  Repeat steps a-b for each shade in the group.

If you want to control each shade individually as well as in a group, please reference the Motorized Shades featuring Z-Wave Technology Owner Manual.
